## The divine turned into merchandise

Look around you. In many "revival churches" that have drifted into cultic behavior, something has broken out in the open: the divine has become merchandise. Grace, that free and undeserved gift which is the very heart of the Gospel, has been dismantled piece by piece. In its place, a counter has been set up for you:

- "Sow a seed"
- "Trigger a blessing"
- "Break a generational curse"

Behind these formulas, a single idea seeps into you: God has a price tag, and your pastor holds the register.

## Organized extortion

This is no longer generosity. **It is extortion, organized, well-oiled, playing on your guilt as if it were an instrument.** Verses are torn from their context to lock you into a debt that can never be repaid. Are you sick? Did you lose your job? Is your family going through a storm? The diagnosis always comes back the same: you didn't give enough. Your bank account becomes the measure of your faith.

Peter had already seen it all coming, word for word:

> "In their greed they will exploit you with deceptive words" (2 Peter 2:3)

And guess who this mechanism targets first? The most vulnerable. Those who are pushed into debt for a miracle that will never come.

The "**financial seed**" reduces God to a vending machine. Insert a coin, wait for your miracle. Except the biblical mandate says exactly the opposite:

> "Freely you have received, freely give" (Matthew 10:8)

> "Not reluctantly or under compulsion" (2 Corinthians 9:7)

So when Malachi 3 is brandished to threaten you with a curse if you don't pay your tithe down to the last cent, **that is not theology. That is blackmail.** A tool of control dressed up as a spiritual principle.

## The concept of seeding
It's simple to understand but devastatingly effective: converting your distress into a steady income stream for the organization. The principle relies on a distorted agricultural image: just as a seed planted in the ground produces a harvest, your financial donation would be a "seed" that God would multiply to send you back a material harvest. The formula fits in one sentence: "The seed is the measure of our faith; the harvest is God's response." In other words, the more you give, the more you reap. **The amount you pay becomes the thermometer of your trust in God.**

The problem is not the biblical principle of sincere, joyful giving, which does exist. The problem is its diversion. As some teachers themselves acknowledge, "*good doctrine can be used for bad ends*": those who "*seek to fill their own bellies are not lacking*."

The corruption begins exactly where the logic is reversed: instead of recalling that "it is God who gives seed to the sower," your offering is presented to you as an investment with a guaranteed return, **a spiritual placement where God would owe you a proportional payback**.

From that tipping point, the whole system spirals out of control:

- **Faith is measured in money.** Your spiritual commitment is no longer judged by your heart, but by the sum written on the check.
- **The absence of a "harvest" becomes your fault.** If the miracle doesn't come, it is never the scam that is at fault: it's that your seed was too small, or your faith too weak. The doubt is turned back against you.
- **Fear replaces generosity.** The fear of a curse, of stagnation, of financial blockage is stirred up to push you to give again, and always more.

This is where the false doctrine reveals its true nature: it is no longer a teaching, it is an extraction mechanism. **The most fragile springs of human psychology are exploited**, the fear of lacking and the desperate hope of a turnaround, **exactly as major financial scams do**. You are sold a promise of supernatural gain that rests on nothing, and the only real, verifiable enrichment is that of the one preaching.

## The proof is in the accounts

And if you want proof that doesn't lie, look at the accounts. Words can lie, verses can be twisted, but numbers always tell the truth.

- In a healthy structure, money is transparent, verifiable, collectively managed, and it serves the community. The accounts are open, a budget is presented, and any member can ask where every euro goes. The funds finance concrete actions: helping the most destitute, maintaining the premises, supporting families in difficulty.
- In a cultic drift, money flows in only one direction: upward. No balance sheet, no accountability, no questions tolerated. Demanding transparency even becomes a sign of "**lack of faith**" or "**rebellion against the anointing**."

The leader — often a self-proclaimed prophet or apostle — untouchable by definition, drives a luxury car, owns several properties, travels first class, and calls it "anointing." A gold watch, tailor-made suits, sometimes a private jet: everything is presented as "visible proof" of divine blessing, and thus as a model to imitate by giving even more.

Meanwhile, at the bottom, the faithful remain in precarity, sometimes in debt, made to feel guilty for not *sowing* enough. Do the math yourself: his wealth doesn't fall from the sky, it comes straight out of the pockets of his flock. There is no miracle in this equation, only a transfer of money from the poorest to a single man.

## The price of truth

Facing this is painful. Admitting that you were stripped in the name of the most absolute trust you ever gave brings shame. It hurts to realize that your hope was billed, that your distress was monetized, that **the moments when you were most vulnerable were turned into occasions for extraction**. And there is a second wound, more muffled: the fear of not being believed, or worse, of being accused of betraying God by denouncing those who claimed to speak in his name. But it is the only path out: looking at the facts coldly, without dressing them up, without seeking excuses for the one who exploited you.

Salvation does not come through a bank transfer. **God's love is not negotiable.** It cannot be rented by the month, cannot be bought in seeds, cannot be unlocked in exchange for an offering. And an organization that demands your money as the price of entry into divine favor **is not a church but a cult!** It is a fraud, well disguised as a ministry: the same mechanisms as an **ordinary scam, but coated in a sacred varnish** that makes exposing it harder and the guilt heavier. Calling things by their name is already the beginning of freedom from them.

## Finding the true Shepherd

So, who should you turn to once you've faced the deception head-on? To the One who, precisely, never handed you a bill. The true Shepherd is not recognized by what he demands of you, but by what he gives. Jesus said it plainly:

> "The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep" (John 10:11)

Here is the complete reversal. Where the false pastor or prophet takes in order to enrich himself, the true Shepherd strips himself to save you. One shears the flock; the other lets himself be slain for it.

This truth is not meant to imprison you, but to free you.

> "You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free" (John 8:32)

Authentic faith is born from what is **preached openly** to you, never from what is **hidden** from you — neither rigged accounts nor promises whispered in your ear to extract a transfer from you. A community that walks in the light has nothing to hide.

Leaving a cult is not leaving God. On the contrary, it is finding him again as he truly is: free, generous, incapable of putting a price on his love. Salvation has already been paid for, not by you, but for you, on the cross. You therefore have no debt left to honor. Lift up your head. The true Shepherd calls you by name, and his door does not open with money.
