<p>The human pineal gland is a neuroendocrine organ that primarily secretes melatonin and contributes to the night signal. It is informed by light via the retina, the suprachiasmatic nuclei and a sympathetic chain. It is not a photoreceptive eye in the adult human. The claim that this gland releases psychedelic doses of N,N-dimethyltryptamine (DMT) at birth, in dreams or as death approaches belongs to a complex of hypotheses popularized notably by Rick Strassman&apos;s book (2001), and not to a consensus of physiology. This article, a qualitative bibliographic synthesis conducted from a stated evangelical Protestant position, distinguishes four registers that must never be merged into a single affirmative sentence. Established fact. Controversial hypothesis. Cultural analogy. Theological reading. On DMT, Strassman is cited on three separate levels. (a) What his controlled intravenous administration trials measured (1991, 1994 I–II, 1996). (b) What the book *DMT: The Spirit Molecule* hypothesizes. (c) What Nichols (2018), Dean et al. (2019), Glynos et al. (2023), Jiménez and Bouso (2022) and Barker (2022) confirm, qualify or refute. The &quot;third eye&quot; is then disentangled into distinct objects. The zoological parietal eye of non-mammals. The Cartesian pineal. The ajna of tantric cartographies. The theosophical and media composite. None of these objects is the eye of Matthew 6:22-23 and Luke 11:34-36, a moral metaphor of the good or bad eye in the Jewish tradition of generosity and envy. Kundalini is treated as an autonomous academic framework, without identification with the Spirit or with DMT. Protestant pneumatology recalls that the body is a temple (1 Cor 6:19; 2 Cor 5:17) without naturalizing the Spirit into a gland. A pastoral vigilance concludes against syncretism, commercial spiritual science and any improvised medical advice.</p>
