This evening we decided to go up to the summit of **Mont Bouquet**, in Lussan (Gard). The great thing is that you can drive all the way to the top to admire a magnificent view, and on top of that it's only fifteen minutes from our place, so why not?!

Mont Bouquet is a little corner of wooded nature, all holm oaks, offering, from the Cévennes to Ventoux, one of the most spectacular panoramas over the garrigue as far as the eye can see.

At 631 meters, Mont Bouquet stands like a real natural balcony above the Gard plain. Its limestone silhouette, easily recognizable thanks to its antennas and the small Sainte-Madeleine chapel perched at the top, makes it a landmark visible from very far away around here.

What makes the place so special is its rather unique position: unlike the surrounding relief, Mont Bouquet stands alone in the middle of the garrigue, which gives you a 360-degree view, with nothing to spoil the landscape. And that changes everything for the richness of the panoramas!

To the east, your gaze runs all the way to Mont Ventoux and, when the weather is really clear, you can even glimpse the first foothills of the Alps. To the south, it opens onto the Gard plain, the Rhône valley, and sometimes, on the horizon, you think you can make out the Mediterranean. To the west and north, the Cévennes unfold their wooded ridges, a great contrast with the flat immensity of the garrigue right in front of you.

Mont Bouquet is also a beloved spot for paragliding and hang gliding enthusiasts, who take advantage of the updrafts to take flight facing this breathtaking landscape.

After thoroughly enjoying this magnificent panorama, we went back down by the narrow little road, and honestly, it offered us yet more magnificent views along the way. If you're passing through the area, don't miss this little detour, it's really worth it for the view!
